## Definition

**_Cursor chat_** is the conversational interface of an AI coding assistant: a chat panel in the editor where a developer talks with the model about the code they are working on and asks it to act on that code.

In the conversation with OpenAI's Atlas builders Ben Goodger and Darin Fisher, **_cursor chat_** sits at the intersection of two themes: browsers as a platform, and what changes for builders when **AI codes alongside you**. It is treated as a working surface for developers — a place to converse with a model about the code and the task at hand — rather than a product category of its own.
