## Definition

**_Hotkeys_**: short typed commands created by formatting a GPT's custom instructions so that a user can trigger a packaged behavior from the chat instead of writing out a full request.

**_Hotkeys_** appear in Nick Dobos's account of building _Grimoire_, one of the most popular programming GPTs on the GPT Store. He began the project with **custom instructions**, and discovered that you could format those custom instructions to create **hotkeys** — short commands a user can type into the chat to trigger a packaged behavior.
