agent loop

How this channel uses it In the material on OpenAI's Codex as an “operating system for knowledge work,” the agent loop appears in a list of capabilities that change daily workflows: loops, autonomy, parallel tasks, docs, visualizations, and computer use. Here, an agent loop is a working pattern in which you hand the agent a task and it keeps working on it — iterating on its own — rather than you prompting it turn by turn. That is what makes loops and autonomy feel like one capability: the loop is the mechanism, autonomy is the experience of it. The practical playbook in the same material builds on this idea: start with a hard recurring process, teach the agent the real work, and turn what you hand off into skills. A loop only pays off when what you hand off is a real, repeatable process — which is how a non-engineer at OpenAI compressed roughly five days of monthly finance work into five hours.
