Claude project
How the channel uses Claude projects
In this channel's material, a Claude project is a persistent workspace in Claude where you store source material and custom context so your conversations are grounded in it. It shows up in two distinct ways across the videos and handouts here.
As a context engine for reading
Dwarkesh Patel uploads entire books — downloaded as EPUBs, converted to plain text, and added to Project Knowledge — then holds long chats grounded in the full text. This lets him interrogate difficult or obscure material (a genetics book, Nick Land's writings on AI accelerationism) repeatedly until he can tell whether he has found a real blind spot in the author's thinking or is just confused himself. The demo of live interview prep with David Reich showed the payoff: Claude's large context window holds the whole book where earlier tools chopped it up, while the human still supplies the curiosity and framing.
As a workspace for your own thinking and taste
Claude projects also hold your own material. For a planned essay, Dwarkesh keeps a project with a messy Apple Notes file of quotes, a partial intro, and the chapter that sparked the thread — then asks Claude to surface the patterns and move him from fragments to an outline. He keeps a separate project, “My Psychology,” with journal entries and goals so Claude “knows who I am” when thinking through decisions. On the editorial side, Kate Lee of Every encodes a 400-rule style guide into a Claude project and runs drafts through it before they ever reach a human editor — training a house taste into the artifact and raising the floor on quality.
What to take away
- A Claude project is a workspace with persistent context (documents, notes, style rules) that grounds every chat in it.- Use it as a context engine: upload whole books to Project Knowledge and interrogate them.- Use it as a thinking workspace: store your own fragments, journal, or style guide so the model works from your material.- In the channel's evidence, projects power reading, essay development, interview prep, and editorial QA.
