Nano Banana
Where Nano Banana shows up
In the channel's captured material, Nano Banana appears in the AI-assisted cover-image pipeline: a workflow that reads an essay, generates Midjourney prompts, produces batches of images, and then reviews and refines them. Midjourney is described as behaving “more like a slot machine than a reasoning model” — great at generating candidates, unreliable at precise adjustments. Nano Banana fills the gap as the deterministic editing stage that follows selection.
From the cover-image session: a promising composition — a figure resting on yellow gears — was almost right but needed centering for a 1:1 thumbnail crop. Rather than re-rolling Midjourney, the proposed fix was a second stage: a Nano Banana editing step with an API, reformatting the approved image to 1:1 and exporting it.
How to understand it
Nano Banana is the tool that handles the fixes you don't want to leave to chance or redo by hand:
- Editing, not generating: it operates on an already-approved image rather than producing new candidates. - API-driven: it can be called programmatically, unlike the browser-controlled Midjourney step. - Deterministic fixes: tasks like recentering for a 1:1 crop that a generative model can't reliably do. - Pipeline role: the final refinement stage, after taste-based human review, before export.
